Marc is the current president of the Board of Directors of the Equestrian Coalition of Orange County. Marc is a retired Anaheim Police Department Captain. He is also a State of California certified mounted police officer. In 1995, Captain Hedgpeth founded the Anaheim Police Mounted Unit, and served as the commander of the unit and an active riding officer until his retirement.

Marc is the Senior Instructor for the City of San Juan Capistrano Large Animal Response Team (LART), and has taught volunteers how to safely handle horses, and how to load and safely operate horse trailers and their tow vehicles since the inception of the LART program.

Marc is a C.H.A. Certified Horsemanship Instructor, and operates a company providing sensory and obstacle training and other specialized equestrian training to various mounted assistance units, police agencies, riding clubs, mounted posses, and members of the public throughout Southern California.

Marc regularly competes in western pleasure horse shows, specializing in western trail competition. He is a multiple gold medal winner in equestrian events during California Police and Fire Summer Games. He also enjoys competing in team penning and cattle sorting events throughout Southern California.
